Life, Leadership and Contentment: Deconstructing the Assumption of Imbalance in Life

Life, Leadership and Contentment: Deconstructing the Assumption of Imbalance in Life

Let me quickly share certain thoughts with you which I believe would clear that assumption of yours about Life not being balanced. Life is simply designed to operate in times and seasons, and it is you as an individual that would or should understand the times and seasons of your Life so that you can make maximum and judicious use of it

There are quite a number of people today who hold this assumption that “Life isn’t balanced.” This thought is usually borne out of a feeling of wanting more out of Life, but the more aren’t just coming forth. It is possible to look at where you are currently in your Life and you compare it with others, and that feeling of inadequacy overwhelms you. Sometimes you ask yourself: “why am I the one who isn’t married yet? All my mates are married, yet I am not! Why am I the one who doesn’t have a child yet, despite several years of marriage?” Many people that we married almost at the same time or even after me, have their children already. When you are done asking all the “whys”, you then simply retort to the earlier assumption: “this Life isn’t balanced.”

Let me quickly share certain thoughts with you which I believe would clear that assumption of yours about Life not being balanced. Life is simply designed to operate in times and seasons, and it is you as an individual that would or should understand the times and seasons of your Life so that you can make maximum and judicious use of it. How do I know this? Ecclesiastes 3:9-11 shows us. The Bible say: What profit has the worker from that in which he labours? 10 I have seen the God-given task with which the sons of men are to be occupied. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end. The earlier verses of that chapter, which I believe you are quite familiar with shows us that everything has its season, and there is time for every purpose under heaven.

There are certain things or privileges you won’t enjoy, irrespective of how you crave for them; until the time allotted to it has come in your Life. As beautiful as getting married or having children is, you may never get to fulfill these things until your time and season to fulfill them has come. And this is why you must understand the place of leadership and contentment in your journey in this part of eternity. Leadership in the sense that you take charge of your Life. Contentment on the other hand is not hurrying yourself out of the will and purpose of God.

Abraham was promised a child, but the child didn’t come at Abraham’s timing, but God’s timing. David was anointed king, but he didn’t get to the throne immediately but until about decade or thereabout from the time he was anointed king over Israel. Joseph too had to wait. Even though his dream was valid and he saw himself being bowed to, he did not become the Prime Minister of Egypt immediately as well. The truth is this: what you currently think or assume is making Life imbalance is simply because you haven’t entered the fullness of your times and seasons yet to lay hold on those things that God has promised you.

You see, Life to you would be balanced if you understand what God has planned for your Life and you follow His leading so that you can successfully get to your destination. Contentment brings you to a place where you can absolutely rely and depend on God knowing fully well that He alone makes all things beautiful in its time. Contentment is you remaining in the place of your purpose and being found occupied with it. Ecclesiastes 3:10 shows us something fundamental here. It says: I have seen the God-given task with which the sons of men are to be occupied. He has made everything beautiful in its time.”  Did you see that? You have to be occupied with the task of God.

While you are at this task (the God-given task) which is also your God-given purpose, God locates you and then places you in the right place you belong to. God determines times and seasons. Daniel 2:21 shows us that He alone has the capacity to change times and seasons. Contentment brings you to your destination. Contentment guides your Life in the right course and makes you focus on the main thing. Even though many could think Life isn’t balanced, but with contentment and walking in the purpose of God, Life becomes balanced.

So, what is the action point? There is no need comparing yourself with other people. The more you compare yourself with others, the more Life appears tilted away from your favor, and the more disoriented you become, and the more you begin to see Life as not being balanced. Apostle Paul wrote: For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise (2 Corinthians 10:12). Live your Life to the best of God’s abilities, stay focused, be purpose-driven, especially the purpose that you have found in God and follow God’s leading into your times and seasons.

I believe you have been encouraged!
