University is an institution (establishment) at the highest level of education (transformation) where you can study for a degree or do research. Ordinarily, I would not have accepted easily to write on a topic as this; but necessity is laid on me – I only hope that my initial reluctance will not hinder the person that the article is written for, from seeing beyond this imperfect collation of letters.

The first thought of an average religious person after reading the title of this article might be, “Is it really possible for anyone to finish from God’s University?”; “Can a person ever stop learning from God?” I understand these concerns; but that concern may not be for you and I yet – as we must admit that a baby who has not begin crawling, ought not to be overwhelmed by the thoughts of crossing the highway.

From the definition of University above, it is clear that everyone may not go to the University; and thus, everyone may not finish from the University. The University is not the only place for education (transformation); rather, it is the highest place. Highest, not only in terms of reputation, but also in terms of requirements, scope, experience, sacrifice and resources among others.

In reality, many people do not see any big deal in going to the University; and the people that desire to be there are unable to get into it. Many people end their own search for education (transformation) at the primary schools, while some reach the secondary level of transformation (education) and fewer some enter into the tertiary level of transformation.

As commendable as the efforts of the last group of people may be, not all of them usually finish from the University – For while some drop-out of the University; some are sent out of it. Indeed, many are called, but few are chosen. As we must know, there is a grace to start a race; and there is a grace to finish a race – everyone that wants to be great must therefore grow from grace to grace!

While it is honourable to go through a University in one’s life; it is fulfilling and transforming to have the University go through one’s life. The point is simple. Many people pass through the University; yet, no aura (influence) of the University in their lives; while so many people pass through the University and the University equally pass through them. The latter are the ones that have been baptized into the University – their lifestyles, thoughts, language and preference are in perfect sync with the University. When some people say, “I finished from the University of ABC”; people would say, “You don’t mean it!” While for others, the response would be, “No wonder!”

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.

Acts 4:13

For the disciples of Jesus, their own University was the Lord Jesus Christ – He was the institution of God for their total transformation; hence, when they finished from the University; the authorities of their day saw the impact and dimension of influence of their University on them.

Finishing from the University of God is in degrees; first degree, second degree and third degree. Usually, not everyone that claims to be of God finishes the University of God. Some who claimed to have finished, have only ended their first degree programme that pre-qualifies them for the works of their lives (ministries, businesses, marriages, etc.). Finishing from the University of God is therefore about ending well on the earth, accomplishing the work assigned to one by God.

For three (3) and half years, Jesus was with His chosen disciples; teaching them by example what the LORD has commanded Him. One would have thought that after the period, the disciples ought to have finished from the University of god.

…Simon Peter said to them (other disciples), “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We are going with you also.” They went out and immediately got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing.”

John 21:3

If you read the entire chapter of that portion of the Bible, you will realize how men can change their minds, vocations and lifestyles so easily. But God was faithful to admit them back into the University for Higher Studies. In fact, when they were faced with threat to life; they chose to remain with God than with men!

Jesus said, “no one who lays his hands on the plough and looks back (drop-out) is fit for the kingdom of God”. God will not comfortably entrust greatness to drop-outs of His University. A lot of people are closer and more known for their departments (church denominations) than to and for God. Quite a lot of people would think twice before obeying God; but swiftly do the bidding of the Senior Pastor!

Among the men that finished from the University of God is Moses: “The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like men from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear.” (Deuteronomy 18:15). And in Deuteronomy 34:5-7, the Scriptures reveal how God ended the life of Moses through His Word. At the time of his departure, his eyes were not dim nor his natural vigor diminished at 120 years of age!

Another person that finished from the University of God is Paul of Tarsus (trained as a Lawyer, worked as a Tent Maker and an Ambassador of Jesus Christ to the nations). “For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only, but also all who have loved His appearing.” (2 Timothy 4:6-8).

Finishing from the University is not just for the few, but for you and I; but we must consider ourselves privileged to be sat upon by God for direct molding and making: For until God makes a thing or person; such a thing or person will remain unmade. So, instead of being an unmade Father, Wife, Pastor, Doctor, son, Teacher, Prophet, Evangelist, Lawyer, Governor and President among others; let us patiently fulfill the period (duration) of our transformation under God, in order to be perfectly fitted for the purpose of our procreation and predestination through Christ in God.

Lest I forget, we do not have a high priest who is not touched with the feelings of our infirmities. Remember, after He finished drinking the final cup of His suffering in the University of God, He said, “It is finished!” (John 19:30). So, if Jesus our Lord had to finish – we must finish our too in good faith and spirit!
