Partnering With God for The Fulfillment of His Will for Your Life

Partnering With God for The Fulfillment of His Will for Your Life

The will of God for your life is forever settled. The challenge many people have is basically how to partner with God for the realization and the fulfilment of that will

The will of God for your life is forever settled. The challenge many people have is basically how to partner with God for the realization and the fulfilment of that will. David wrote in Psalm 119:89, it says: “Forever, O LORD, your word is settled [STANDS] in heaven.” Now, the word of God is the will of God. When you know or receive the word of God [either in written form (LOGOS) or in spoken form (RHEMA)], you already have the will of God. Again, in Psalm 40:8, David wrote and said: “I delight to do Your will, O my God,
And Your law is within my heart.”
David believed that what would facilitate him doing the will of God are the laws of God that he has in his heart. No wonder in another place he said “your word have I hidden in my heart that I may not sin against you.”

EXAMPLES OF GOD’S WILL FOR YOUR LIFE

#1 Your Salvation [1 Peter 1:3-5]!

In case you are reading piece right now and you are not born again, it is the will of God for your life that you are saved, that you receive Christ into your life as your personal Lord and Savior. This salvation is at the very top of His will for mankind generally. You cannot partner with God in the fulfillment of His will for your life if you are not genuinely saved.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”

#2 Your Sanctification [1 Thessalonians 4:3-8]!

“For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; 4 that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, 5 not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; 6 that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified. 7 For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness. 8 Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given us His Holy Spirit.”

#3 Your Worship!

Now, God’s idea of worship is not limited to a time when we come and sing for some minutes and then we end it. That is one aspect of worship, but that is not all there is to worship. God’s original idea of worship is that we present our bodies, our whole life as a living sacrifice unto Him. Romans 12:1-2 says:

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

THE WILL OF GOD AND PARTNERSHIP WITH GOD

The will of God is what God wants to do in your life and on the face of the earth. The will of God cannot be done outside of partnership with God. For example, if there is a joint venture business, it is of necessity that every partner in the business contributes their own quota so that the will of the business can be achieved. The will of God for your life is a joint business between you and God and therefore it requires partnership for it to be fulfilled. Let me show us two Scriptures that shows us that God wants us to partner with Him in the fulfillment of His will for our lives. The first one is Genesis 2:4-7, 19-20, and Matthew 6:9-10. The Bible says:

“This is the history of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens, 5 before any plant of the field was in the earth and before any herb of the field had grown. For the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the ground; 6 but a mist went up from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground. 7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.”

God didn’t cause it to rain on the earth simply because, Man, His partner in the fulfilment of His will on the earth, is not yet on the scene. So, God withheld rain, a vital resource on the face of the earth until man came on the scene. That shows us that man is strategic when it comes to the fulfilment of the will of God for our lives and on the face of the earth.

Genesis 2:19-20 says:

“Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him.” This is the first partnership that took place between God and man. It was not as if God cannot name His creations by Himself, lest we think God was tired and He needed to bring the animals to Name them for Him while He rests. No! that was not what happened. What God was doing at that material time was to show man the kind of partnership that would exist between Him towards the fulfillment of His will on earth.

The will of God is to partner with man for the fulfillment of His purpose on earth. When Jesus was teaching His disciples on the Lord’s prayer, He was speaking physically to men and not angels.

In this manner, therefore, pray:

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10 Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.

There are two things that we would see in the Lord’s prayer if we carefully observe it. The first thing we would realize from that Scripture is that Jesus told His disciples to pray that the will of God be done on the earth as it is in heaven. That presupposes something, that if men would not pray, the will of God wouldn’t be done. Let me show us this Scripture in 1 Timothy 2:1-8. Paul wrote to Timothy and said:

“Therefore, I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. It is the will of God that we live a quiet and peaceable life in this world. Meaning that if we will live a quiet and peaceable life in this present world, then prayers must be made, not for the lack of peace in our own individual lives, but for the lack of peace in the world because if there is chaos, there would not be any gathering of the saints to fellowship or worship. That is why that Scripture is directed at kings and those who are in authority.

3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, 7 for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle—I am speaking the truth in Christ and not lying—a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. 8 I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting…” What does that tell us? It simply means prayer facilitates the will of God to be done.

The second thing we would see there is that for God to do something in this physical realm, man must first do something. In Ezekiel 22:30-31, the Bible says: So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one. 31 Therefore I have poured out My indignation on them; I have consumed them with the fire of My wrath; and I have recompensed their deeds on their own heads,” says the Lord God.” Many times, when we read the story of the apostle Paul and how he was converted on his way to Damascus, have we ever wondered why Jesus had to intercept him at that point? The reason is because men like Ananias stood in the gap and were interceding to God on behalf of the saints and therefore, God showed up when Paul was approaching Damascus.

HOW TO PARTNER WITH GOD FOR THE FULFILLMENT OF HIS WILL FOR YOUR LIFE

#1. Don’t be Ignorant of His Will

Don’t be ignorant of the will of God because if you do, you will not be able to partner with God adequately. IF YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND THE WILL OF GOD, YOU WILL BE RUNNING ON YOUR OWN TERMS, AND NOT ON GOD’S TERMS. Running on our own terms most times, doesn’t lead us to where God wants us to be. And that is why sometimes, it looks as if you know what to do and how to do it, but still, things are not adding up the way they should. Apostle Paul wrote in Ephesians 5:17: “Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” Sometimes it appears difficult trying to know and understand what the will of God is, but it is in knowing it that we can be able to partner with God for the execution of that will.

#2. You have to follow God’s Instructions Per Time!

Those who would partner with God in the fulfilment of His will are those who would follow His instructions. In Psalm 32:8-9, David wrote:

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye.
9 Do not be like the horse or like the mule,
Which have no understanding,
Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle,
Else they will not come near you.

#3. You have to know what God is doing in your life Per Time!

Partnering with God adequately requires that you know what God is doing in your life per time. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says: “to everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.” If you don’t know the season of your life, you wouldn’t be able to partner with Him in walking you through His will for that time. In Acts 16:6-10, the Bible says:

“Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia. 7 After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them. 8 So passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas. 9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” 10 Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them.”

Now, there are certain doors that God would close simply because the time to open them isn’t right, and there are doors He would open to you simply because it is time for Him to open them so that you can be launched forth into the next phase of His will for your life. And that is the example we saw in the case of Paul above.

#4. You have to function in oneness with God!

Jesus was able to carry out the will of God because He was in oneness with God. In John 10:25-30, the Bible says:

“Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me. 26 But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you. 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. 30 I and My Father are one.”

I pray that God will help us to Partner with Him adequately in the fulfillment of His will on the earth and in our lives in Jesus’ name.
