A spiritual leader is expected by God to oversee the flocks in his or her care. And the truth is, overseers of God’s flock are usually unfaithful in watching over the flocks of God. Some believe that it is only while ministering in church or fellowships that they can watch over the flock. But the truth is, effective spiritual leaders consistently watch over God’s flock – both day and night. They watch in prayer and intercession while the flocks are at sleep.
And really that is the Secret for gaining real influence, coverage and insight of the flocks.
Until a spiritual leader takes it upon himself or herself to stay awake; he or she can never have in-depth insight, vision or direction over the flocks.
Now there were in the same country shepherds (pastors) living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock (people) by night. And behold an angel of the lord stood before them, and the glory of the lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people

May I state that, perhaps your inability to have fresh revelation, insight, instruction or good news for your people is simply because as your people go to bed, you also go to bed and when they wake up, you also wakeup.
To lead your people effectively in the day, you must take the lead at night - stay awake and study, stay awake and pray - For there lies your true effective spiritual leadership. Hence, the indispensable habit is "night watching"!
