Abia PDP flags off campaign, with no reference to Ayu, Atiku

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Abia State, yesterday, flagged -off its election campaigns for governorship, National Assembly and State House of Assembly candidates in the 2023 general elections.

Speaking at the event, held at the Umuahia Township Stadium, the state governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, stated that he is sure PDP candidates would emerge victorious in the elections, considering that his administration has affected Abians positively, and PDP candidates are of men of character.

According to the governor, no other political party exists in the state. He noted that the other parties in the state are zero electoral value.

He expressed hope the incoming administration of Uche Ikonne would sustain his legacies in the state.

Although no direct reference was made to PDP National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, and the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, the members of the G-5 PDP Integrity Governors Group, Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State and Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, urged Abians to remain resolute in PDP, assuring that they are ready to take Nigeria out of its present challenges.

They noted that they stand for equity, fairness and justice. The G-5 governors assured they are strong in their states and are committed to wining elections.

The governors, who congratulated PDP candidates, who received the party’s flags, expressed hope that they would win, assured that the G-5 would support PDP candidates in the state.

They, however, told Abians that, in the case of party’s presidential candidate, they would be told what to do at the appropriate time.

They described Ikpeazu as a performer and man of integrity who is trusted.

On his own part, Ikonne noted that if elected governor, he would fully and effectively implement his articulated five point agenda, tagged: ‘Tiger Economy,’ which include trade, industrialisation, good governance, education and rural development.”

In his remarks, the PDP state Chairman, Asiforo Okere, disclosed that the event is a combination of rallies and sensitisation, which has been taking place in wards and councils of the state.
