• Freezes govt accounts, reverses state name, Oyetola’s appointments
• NANS Zone D congratulates new governor
Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was yesterday sworn-in as Executive Governor of Osun State amid promises to the people of the state.
In his inaugural speech, Adeleke, who reiterated his commitment to welfare, peace and security of the state, said that his inauguration marked the beginning of a new era and promised to correct injustices of past administrations in the state.
Adeleke announced the reversal of all appointments made by Oyetola between July 17 and November 26, 2022.
He ordered that all bank accounts of the state be frozen.
The governor also reversed the state name from ‘State of Osun’ to ‘Osun State’, saying that the former was alien to Nigeria’s Constitution.
Dignitaries at the occasion included PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar; vice presidential candidate, Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa; Governors Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom), former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, among others.
MEANWHILE, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Zone D, yesterday, congratulated Adeleke.
The student body in a statement signed by the Zone D Coordinator, Emmanuel Adegboye; his deputy, John Alao and the Public Relations Officer, Opeoluwa Awoyinfa, said: “We congratulate the newly-inaugurated governor of Osun State on behalf of the entire students of NANS in South-West, particularly Osun students, within and in Diaspora.”
