EPL: Potter doesn’t want him – Paul Merson sends message to Boehly over sacking Chelsea coach

Arsenal hero, Paul Merson, has called on Chelsea co-owner to give Graham Potter more time at Stamford Bridge amid concerns that he could sack the Englishman.

Merson also claimed that Potter doesn’t want Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Potter, who was appointed Chelsea manager last September following the sacking of Thomas Tuchel, has been under intense pressure at the west London club over the Blues’ poor results recently.

Chelsea have won just one of their last ten matches across competitions and is currently in tenth position on the Premier League table, a massive 19 points behind leaders Arsenal.

“That is what happened with Aubameyang. Potter did not want him, but if he is now sacked and someone else comes in, they will go, ‘Well, I don’t want that centre-half or that centre-half.’ Then it is like you are going around in circles again.

“That is why Potter has got to be given more time, in my opinion,” Merson told Sky Sports.

Aubameyang has struggled to make an impact at Chelsea following his move from Barcelona in the summer.

The Gabonese has scored just three goals and provided one assist in 15 games for Chelsea this campaign.

The former Arsenal captain was also left out of Chelsea’s squad for their FA Cup third-round defeat against Man City over the weekend.
