EPL: Why we beat Man City 1-0 – Aston Villa coach, Unai Emery
Aston Villa boss, Unai Emery has suggested that his team defeated Premier League champions Manchester City 1-0 in Wednesday’s Premier League tie because his players took control of the game for 90 minutes.
Recall that Leon Bailey’s deflected strike gave Emery’s side all three points against Man City at Villa Park.
“Playing against Man City, who won the title, Champions League too. It’s a difficult challenge to take control of the game for 90 minutes but we did it,” Emery said at his post-match interview.
He added, “We created lots of chances and we controlled the attack in the high press. We were believing.
“Today was fantastic but we must keep a balance. The dressing room is happy, but the next challenge is on Saturday. Tomorrow we are focusing again on Saturday.”
